In ellipsometry, the change of the polarization state of linearly polarized light is measured upon reflection at the surface. Ellipsometry is the analysis of the change in the state of polarized light after it has reflected from the surface of a thin film sample. Internal photoemission spectroscopy correlates the energy and wavelength of photons striking a surface with the energy of emitted electrons.
